Building Your First Form in Under 5 Minutes

A quick tutorial showing how to build and publish a conversational form in minutes.

ConvoType is designed for speed. In this quick tutorial, we’ll build a complete lead capture form from scratch — and have it live on a website in under five minutes.

Minute 1: Set Up Your Form

Open the ConvoType editor and create a new form. Give it a name like “Lead Capture” so you can find it later. You’ll see an empty canvas with a Start block already placed.

Minute 2: Add Your Welcome Message

Drag a Text Bubble block onto the canvas and connect it to the Start block. Type something friendly: “Hey there! We’d love to learn a bit about you. This will only take a moment.” First impressions matter — set a conversational tone from the start.

Minute 3: Add Input Fields

Now add three input blocks in sequence:

  1. Text Input — “What’s your name?”
  2. Email Input — “What’s the best email to reach you?”
  3. Buttons — “What are you looking for?” with options like “Pricing info”, “Product demo”, “Just browsing”

Connect each block to the next. The flow should go: Start → Welcome → Name → Email → Interest.

Minute 4: Add a Thank-You Message

Finish with another Text Bubble: “Thanks, {{name}}! We’ll be in touch soon.” The {{name}} variable pulls in the user’s earlier response for a personal touch.

Minute 5: Publish and Embed

Click Preview to test the flow, then hit Publish. Copy the embed code and paste it into your website — or if you’re on WordPress, just add the ConvoType block in Gutenberg and select your form.

Set up an email notification so you get alerted on each submission, and you’re done. A fully functional, beautifully animated lead capture form — live and collecting responses in under five minutes.
