Getting Started with ConvoType: A Quick Guide

A step-by-step guide to building your first conversational form with ConvoType.

Getting started with ConvoType takes just a few minutes, whether you choose the cloud platform or the WordPress plugin. This guide walks you through creating, customizing, and publishing your first conversational form.

Step 1: Create Your Form

Log into your ConvoType dashboard (or open the form editor in WordPress) and click “New Form.” You’ll land in the visual flow editor — a drag-and-drop canvas where you design your conversation.

Step 2: Add Your Blocks

Drag blocks from the sidebar onto the canvas. Start with a Text Bubble for your welcome message, then add input blocks for the data you want to collect:

  • Text Input — for names, short answers, or open-ended responses
  • Email Input — validates email addresses automatically
  • Buttons — for multiple-choice selections
  • Dropdown — for longer option lists

Connect blocks by dragging edges between them. The flow runs top to bottom, following the connections you create.

Step 3: Add Conditional Logic (Optional)

Want different paths for different users? Click on a connection edge and set conditions. For example: if the user selects “Enterprise” on a company size question, route them to a different set of follow-up questions than someone who selects “Individual.”

Step 4: Preview and Publish

Hit the Preview button to test your form as an end user would see it. Walk through every path, check your copy, and verify the flow feels natural. When you’re happy, click Publish.

ConvoType Cloud gives you an embed code to paste into any website. ConvoType Pro lets you insert the form directly using the Gutenberg block editor — just search for “ConvoType” in the block inserter.

Step 5: Set Up Notifications

Configure email notifications so you get alerted on every new submission. You can also set up webhooks to send response data to your CRM, email platform, or any tool that accepts HTTP requests.

That’s it — your first conversational form is live and collecting responses. From here, use the built-in analytics to track completion rates and optimize your flow over time.
